Deposit Refund Policy
Deposit Refund Policy
The advance payment can be refundable under certain conditions.
Right to cancel
Following standard international practice, a student can inform the Secretariat in writing and within 14 calendar days of submitting the signed enrolment form that he/she wishes to cancel, without providing any reason for withdrawal. An administration fee of €500 will be retained if the refund is approved.
Personal circumstances
Personal circumstances which can been proven by official documentation can be eligible for a refund. Examples include serious accident or injury of self or of a close family member, death of a first degree relative or partner, requirement for serious medical treatment including planned therapy sessions for serious diseases or a major operation. Natural disasters, war or other major geopolitical disruption are also valid reasons. The list is not exhaustive and it remains within the programme committee’s discretion to consider if certain personal circumstances are valid or not. An administration fee of €500 will be retained if the refund is approved.
Failure to meet the conditions of the offer
If a student has been offered a conditional offer and fails to meet the academic criteria, then a refund will be provided, under the following circumstances:
If the conditions concern document legalisation, valid proof should be provided of an application to the competent authority for document legalization.
If the conditions concern document legalisation, the documents should be proven authentic and not fraudulent.
If the conditions concern fulfilment of studies (e.g. high school), evidence should be provided that the student has attended the relevant examinations or provide proof of personal circumstances that made the fulfilment of studies impossible.
If the conditions concern English test requirements, the candidate should provide evidence of additional tests taken in an attempt to fulfil the requirements as well as demonstrate evidence of timely communication of the negative outcome with the Secretariat of the BSc in Accounting and Finance.
Refusal of a student visa
Students whose student visa application was rejected are eligible for a refund, provided that the refusal was not due to a false application or an applicant’s error. Candidates must provide a copy of the visa refusal paperwork to the University in order to receive a refund. An administration fee of €500 will be retained from the refund.
No refund will be given if the visa application is invalid, under which we include the following cases:
The application is fraudulent (e.g. submitting false documents or not disclosing important information).
The applicant is associated with illegal organizations or activities.
Refusal on the basis of a proven criminal record.
Failure to attend a visa appointment
Student visa not issued in good time before the beginning of the programme
In case you are issued with a student visa but this takes longer than expected and you receive the outcome after the beginning of the programme, we would like to remind that the delivery mode is hybrid, meaning that you will be able to attend online the first few days that your student visa is still under consideration. If this takes longer than usual and you express the desire to be physically present in Thessaloniki for the classes, you will be given the option for entry deferral as described below.
Deferral of studies
Part of our policy is to allow students to defer their entry for the next academic year, without providing a reason but provided that the deferment is not due to a visa refusal on the basis of an invalid application as described above. This requires that the student notifies about the deferral request in good time, and now later than 2 weeks before the start of the programme. If the student decides to defer entry for the next academic year, their advanced payment will be retained until the next academic year and upon the payment of the future instalment he/she only will pay the difference of the due amount. The fees will also remain the same as per the initial offer.
However, if the student decides to withdraw or fails to attend due to a new visa refusal, no further deferral will be possible. The instalment will be returned but the administration fee in this case will be €1000.
No show up – Suspension/discontinuation of studies
If you fail to attend / engage with classes at the start of the programme without any prior warning no refund will be made.
If the programme has already started and you attend but decide at a later date to withdraw or suspend your studies, you may be entitled for a refund as described in the internal regulation.
If your studies are suspended or discontinued on our end due to misconduct, failure to engage with class and no show up for classes (for individuals under Visa requirements) or other reasons that justify the suspension/discontinuation of studies, no refund will be provided at all.
Refund process
All applications for refund should be directed to the Secretariat of the BSc in Accounting and Finance by email (info.accfin@uom.edu.gr). The applications will be considered and eligible candidates will receive a refund when all necessary administrative procedures have concluded.

For any other issues not covered in the present refund policy, the Assembly of the Department has the authority to decide on a one-by-one case.
