Accreditations and Collaborations

ACCA

The BSc in Accounting and Finance is officially accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), providing the maximum of nine exemptions from professional examinations out of the total of thirteen. ACCA is one of the most internationally recognized accreditations for Accountants and Auditors and is one of the most sought after professional titles for employment at senior positions. Graduates will therefore have the best possible head start in their professional careers. This achievements is indicative of the academic quality and professional relevance of the BSc in Accounting and Finance.

Professional Collaborations

The high relevance with the market is evident in all programs offered by the Department of Accounting and Finance. Apart from the professional accreditations that the Department has secured, it has also entered significant collaborations with governmental and professional organizations. In particular, the Department has secured an agreement with the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) of Greece to provide free education and training to Senior Executives of the tax and customs authorities. Moreover, the Department has entered agreements with firms of international standing to facilitate a range of modes of collaboration, including the potential for industrial dissertation projects.

Academic Collaborations

The Department of Accounting and Finance promotes the professional and research development of its academic staff through collaboration agreements with Higher Education Institutions from around the world (e.g. Shanghai Business School, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus University of Technology, University of Nicosia, Business School of the University of International Business and Economics Beijing, People’s Republic of China, to name but a few) as well as with Greek Universities (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Hellenic Mediterranean University). Through these collaborations, the staff of the Department collaborate on research projects of high specialization, as well as interdisciplinary projects which require the input from various fields of expertise.

These collaborations have direct benefits for the programmes offered by the Department as they facilitate the enrichment of the curriculum with research-informed teaching and case studies.Moreover, the MoUs include provisions about student exchanges which may enhance the educational experience. On this front, the University as well the Department has already met with representatives of American Universities that have expressed an interest for collaboration. The English-speaking BSc in Accounting and Finance will reinforce the Department’s continuous efforts for internationalization and extroversion through the additional offering of a wide range of English-speaking modules, which are necessary for such ventures.
